About Kayla
Kayla Hilzendeger (she/her) is a queer tattoo artist based in St. Louis, specializing in neo-traditional, traditional, illustrative, and fine line tattoos. A lifelong doodler and artist, Kayla studied graphic design in college before realizing she felt most connected to hands-on, tactile art forms, which eventually led her to tattooing.
Her work is shaped by a decade spent in Arizona, where desert landscapes, bold warmth, and organic details became part of her visual language. Now tattooing in St. Louis, Kayla continues to draw inspiration from new surroundings and experiences while creating pieces with strong detail, contrast, and intentional composition.
Kayla deeply values creating a safe, welcoming space where clients feel comfortable, heard, and seen. Whether collaborating on a custom tattoo or offering one of her original “please let me tattoo this” flash designs, she approaches each piece with creativity, care, and a focus on making the process relaxed, personal, and uniquely suited to the client.
